Description: FSD 2500-4 is a perfluoroether di-functional
trimethoxy silane in a low boiling point fluorinated solvent providing low
surface energy to oxide surfaces and good adhesion for fluoropolymers. Treated
surfaces acquire increased chemical and abrasion resistance. The surface
energy for monolayer coatings on glass can range from 18-20 dynes per cm.
The continuous working temperature is 150°C, and intermittent temperatures
may exceed 250°C.
Application: Wear skin and breathing protection. Oxide surfaces must be
clean and free of oils. Dilute FSD 2500-4 to 0.4 to 0.1 % into fluorocarbon
solvent, alcohol or acetone. Dip, spray, brush, spin or wipe thin coating
onto clean, dry surface. Allow twenty four hours to cure under ambient conditions
or heat at 90°C for 10 minutes to densify coating and improve adhesion.
Ambient cures can often be accelerated by immediate secondary application
of 0.1% w/w acetic acid. After curing, remove excess fluorosilane from treated
surfaces using fluorinated solvent or soap and water.
